The NHS free blood pressure checking service

High Blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a serious health condition that if not diagnosed and controlled, can lead to further health complications. It is estimated that over 5 million people with hypertension are undetected. We offer a convenient and accessible service for checking your blood pressure. Ask in-store to have your blood pressure checked. This service is funded by the NHS, it is free for eligible patients.

How does the service work?

One of our pharmacists will have a short consultation with you and your blood pressure will be checked. Depending on the reading of your blood pressure, you will be provided with appropriate advice.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)

If your blood pressure is high, the pharmacist might offer you Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM). You will be given a device to wear that will monitor and record your blood pressure over a period of 24 hours. The results will be discussed with you in a follow-up appointment. The pharmacist will provide lifestyle advice or referral to your GP if your blood pressure is high.
